Data protection and confidentiality

Updated over 3 months ago

Your data and your trust are central to Yumi42. This article explains in simple terms how we handle your information, what coaches can see and in which rare cases Yumi42 may access content.

What Yumi42 is responsible for

Yumi42 operates the platform and is responsible for:

  • processing your data as described in the Privacy Policy

  • protecting data with appropriate technical and organisational measures

  • limiting access to staff who need it for support, security or legal reasons

  • working with service providers that meet comparable data protection standards

All communication between your browser and Yumi42 runs over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

What coaches can see

Coaches on Yumi42 see the information they need to work with you, for example:

  • your first and last name

  • information from your profile that you choose to share, such as topics and goals

  • booking details like date, time and type of session

  • messages and information you exchange with them via Yumi42 about your coaching

Coaches do not see:

  • your password

  • your full payment details

  • internal technical data about your device or browser

Coaches are independent professionals and are required by Yumi42 to handle your data confidentially and in line with the applicable laws and platform rules.

Chats, notes and session content

If you use chat or messaging on Yumi42 the content is stored so that:

  • you and your coach can refer back to agreements and information

  • bookings, disputes and support requests can be handled correctly

Important:

  • Yumi42 does not routinely read or monitor your chats or session related content

  • in rare cases specific content may be accessed if this is necessary, for example

    • to investigate suspected misuse, fraud or serious violations

    • to comply with legal obligations from authorities or courts

In these cases access is limited to authorised staff and is logged as far as technically possible.

Video calls and tools used in sessions

Many coaches use video calls for sessions. Depending on the coach this may be:

  • the video solution integrated in Yumi42 or

  • an external tool such as Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams

By default Yumi42 does not record your sessions. If a coach wants to record a session this must be discussed and agreed directly with you and must comply with the applicable law. If you are not comfortable with recording you can say no.

How long data is stored

Yumi42 stores your data only for as long as needed:

  • to provide the platform and your bookings

  • to fulfil legal obligations, for example retention periods for invoices

  • to enforce rights in case of misuse or disputes

Details on retention periods and legal bases are described in the Privacy Policy.

What you can do to protect your data

You can support the protection of your data by:

  • keeping your password secret and not sharing your account with others

  • using a secure device and up to date software

  • logging out on shared or public devices

  • deciding carefully which very sensitive information you share in chats or documents

Remember that Yumi42 cannot control what a coach does outside the platform, for example screenshots or notes they make privately. If you feel uncomfortable with a question, you can say so or decline to answer.
