Which topics is Yumi42 suitable for and which not?

Updated over 3 months ago

Yumi42 focuses on coaching. That means working on goals, decisions and personal growth, not on medical or therapeutic treatment.
This overview helps you see for which topics Yumi42 is a good fit and where you should look for other types of support.

Good fit: typical coaching topics

On Yumi42 you will mainly find coaches for topics like:

Work and career

  • career orientation and next steps

  • job change, role change, first leadership role

Personal growth and mindset

  • building healthy habits and routines

  • motivation, procrastination, getting things done

  • values, purpose and life direction

Relationships and communication

  • communication in relationships, family or friendships

  • setting boundaries and saying no

  • dealing with conflict and tension in everyday life

Health and wellbeing (non-medical)

  • stress management and resilience in everyday life

  • work life balance and energy management

  • sleep, recovery and lifestyle habits (without medical treatment)

  • dealing with early signs of overload or possible burnout, as long as there is no acute illness

In all these areas coaching focuses on reflection, clarity, practical tools and experiments in your daily life.

Borderline topics: where coaching has limits

Many people use coaching when emotional topics are involved, for example stress, sadness or frustration. This can be helpful as long as:

  • you are able to participate in everyday life and in coaching sessions

  • there is no diagnosed or suspected severe mental illness

  • you are not in an acute crisis

Coaches on Yumi42 do not diagnose illnesses and do not replace therapy. If it becomes clear in coaching that therapeutic or medical support would be more appropriate, a good coach will tell you this and encourage you to seek the right help.

Not suitable: therapy, emergencies and specialised advice

Yumi42 is not suitable for:

  • acute crises, for example suicidal thoughts, self-harm, psychosis or severe breakdowns

  • severe or long lasting depression, anxiety disorders, trauma processing, eating disorders, addiction treatment or similar clinical topics

  • medical questions such as diagnosis, treatment or medication

  • legal or tax advice in the sense of professional legal or tax representation

  • situations where you or others are in immediate danger

If you are unsure whether your topic fits coaching, you can use a free intro call to discuss it briefly with a coach. If it is not a good fit, the coach can suggest other forms of support.

If you are in an acute psychological or medical crisis, contact the emergency services, a crisis line or medical professionals in your country. Coaching is not enough in these situations.
